Adoption is the process of placing your child in an adoptive family. The idea of making an adoption plan can be emotionally challenging for some women. Others find a sense of security and peace of mind.
Her Hope Pregnancy Center’s team can discuss this option and help you decide if it’s right for you. This is your pregnancy, and you alone can make a decision.
Making an Adoption Plan
There are many reasons why women may choose adoption. Perhaps they don’t feel ready to become a parent, or they want to provide their child with a safe, stable environment. Whatever their reason, support is available to help them craft an adoption plan that best aligns with their preferences and future.
There are three types of adoption plans to select from. Reviewing each one can provide clarity into the options available.
Open adoption: Choosing open adoption allows ongoing visits with your child and the adoptive family through letters, phone calls, visits, and more.
Semi-open adoption: Semi-open adoption allows for contact between you and the adoptive family, but all contact is mediated through a third party (like an adoption attorney or agency). Limited information, like first names, may be exchanged.
Closed adoption: A closed adoption means all identifying records are sealed. There is no contact between the birth mother and the adoptive family.
Adoption agencies can discuss these plans if you want to pursue this option. It is crucial to note that all adoption-related services are free, and your medical expenses are fully covered.
Making a pregnancy decision can be difficult, but support is available.
